Adedayo Faneye is a Lecturer/Researcher in the Department of Virology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. She is a former Graduate Assistant at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Osogbo, Nigeria; a former Research Fellow at the Department of Immunology, Laboratoire National De Sante, Luxembourg, and; a former Research Fellow at the Immunology Unit, Department of Microbiology, Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Lagos, Nigeria. 

She has received training on Biosafety and Good Laboratory Practice, Manuscript Writing, Research Methodology, Grant Writing, Laboratory Management, Ethics and Management for Organizational Productivity in Health Sectors, WHO TDR ‘Effective Project Planning and Evaluation in Health Research’ Skill-Building, and Molecular basis of Immunology. She was also a recipient of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) Scholarship Award to participate in the Fourteenth Annual Conference on Vaccine Research held in May 16-18, 2011 at the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

She has vast laboratory experience in the following areas: (1) Serological diagnosis of viral infection by antigen (Ag) and antibody (Ab) detection including ELISA based screening principle for detection of HBV, HCV, HIV and Rubella (2) Radio Immunoassay (RIA) for diagnosis of viral infections e.g. Lassa fever virus (3) Haemagglutination assays for diagnosis of viral infections e.g. Measles virus (4) Western Blot (Immunoblot) for confirmation of ELISA reactive samples e.g. HIV. (5) Tissue Culture for viral isolation e.g. Poliovirus, measles virus; (6) Neutralization tests for antibody evaluation/detection; (7) DNA/RNA Extraction; (8) PCR and RT-PCR (viral load) for DNA and RNA viral diagnosis e.g. Measles Virus B19V, HPV, HIV, HBV and HCV (9) Cytometry such as Cell Count Assay including CD45, CD4+, CD8+ for ARV Therapy by Coulter, Dynabeads, Flow Cytometry.

She is vastly traveled, has attended numerous professional conferences, and she has a lot of publications under her name. Her research activities include the following:

  1. Investigating pattern of co-infection of Sexually Transmitted Viruses in People Living with HIV AIDS in Nigeria.
  2. Survey of sexually transmitted viruses sexually active individuals in Nigeria.
  3. Survey of Aspergillosis co-infection with Tuberculosis in TB treatment failures and TB-HIV patients
  4. Investigating pattern of secondary effect of Measles infection leading to disability in Nigerian children.
  5. Investigation of circulating strains of Human Papillomavirus in Nigeria.
  6. Investigation of arboviruses of Zoonotic importance.
